Description
Ingredients: butyrospermum parkii butter (100% pure shea butter).
Origin: Ghana.
Extraction method: This traditional, handmade product is extracted from the nuts of the Butyrospermum parkii tree, collected in the wild by a local women’s cooperative in the Sub-Saharan savannah. The nuts are crushed, roasted, ground and kneaded with hot water to produce a crude oil, which is then refined.
African people have used shea butter for food and skin care since ancient times. They apply shea butter to sensitive, damaged, tender skin of children, and to chapped hands and feet to protect them from heat, sun, and drying hot winds.

Shea butter provides exceptional tactile properties to the skin. It is easily absorbed, leaving the skin matte and unlike other fatty oils, a unique, more waxy feel.

Shea butter wonderfully softens the skin and protects against adverse weather conditions. Ideal for facial and body skin care in winter, when you want gentle protection from dry and cold weather. Suitable for sensitive skin.

Shea butter helps protect the skin from the effects of irritating substances. It is a great tool to maintain healthy, soft and smooth hand skin when washing hands frequently with soap or in contact with aggressive substances (e.g. solvents) and in case of sensitivity to detergents or water quality. Pure shea butter will successfully replace any of the most luxurious hand creams.

Used pure, in mixtures with other oils, as a base oil for the composition of natural essential oils, as an addition to other cosmetic products (creams, masks) (increases SPF and protective properties).

Recommendations for use: shea butter melts at a temperature of 30-43 ° C, so before using a piece of oil, you can warm in your hands until it has a creamy consistency or place the entire jar in hot water for a few minutes until the oil becomes a liquid consistency. We do not recommend putting it in the microwave, because the oil can easily overheat and burn the skin (there is a metallized sticker on the jar!).
What is the difference between refined and unrefined shea butter?
Both oils have their pros and cons. Most people do not use unrefined shea butter because of its unpleasant smell, but it contains more beneficial substances. Their amount decreases during refining, but does not disappear.

Thus, the refined oil retains 75% of the original amount of sterols, which are important for maintaining moisture balance, which is quite a lot and does not affect its properties much, but because of this, it is easier to absorb into the skin. The amount of tocopherols (vitamin E) after refining decreases by half. Refined oil contains 25% less flavonoids, while the amount of phenolic compounds does not change at all.

On the other hand, after refining, almost no free fatty acids remain, which have comedogenic properties and are avoided in cosmetics. Their amount drops from 14-23% to 0.1-0.2%. Also, unrefined oil is more prone to oxidation and accumulates peroxides, which can sensitize the skin, especially when mixed with some essential oils.

Which oil is best - everyone decides for themselves what benefits are more important to them.
